“so how long will it take us to reach there?”
“we will be there in the morning nana”
“OoooEemGeeeeeee” she squeals in delight and runs to her sister in the other room, and I hear screamed conversation and they later both come out,one wearing and upside smiley and the other (older) with a fascinated look!!
I wait for the report from the younger one,but she starts to cry and her older sister starts laughing and at this point she is now wailing.
“hold on,hold on!! Nana what’s wrong? Dodo why are you laughing at your sister’s visible misery, and what happened? You were going to bring me your clothes to pack, and now? Talk to me baby?”
“but Dodo says we’re not going to America!!” she says, still crying!
“huh?” I enquire, and her sister shrugs her shoulders and gives me a puzzled look, but am certain hers doesn’t beat mine.
So I lower myself to her height and force her muffled face she has harrowed off my leg.
“talk to me baby?” I am now eye to eye with her.
“I was telling Dodo that we’re going to see the falls and she says we are not going to America!” she muffles.
“we are going to see the falls darling, but we are NOT going to America,we’re going to Zambia”!
So we sit,the three of us and unravel this. It turns out my dear daughter only knows some water fall from some Geographic show done by some kids, and this is in the United States of America, and when I mentioned to her that we are going to see the water falls she put one and one together and got four. First,we have an impending visit to the US,and second we’re going to see the falls,so it has to be the US,but wait we’re driving in the car. Probably in her six year old head we can road trip to the US from Moleps (Botswana). Priceless!!
